In most of the cases the mental health is significantly ignored in our society. The medication or the intervention id given only after the acute symptoms are shown by the patients. The lack of awareness is the major cause for this in the rural population. The other aspect of importance is the unwillingness of the ill person, in some clinical conditions/situations to seek help on his own. All of these factors have implications at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels for the health.
In normal circumstances about 20% of those seeking primary care are known to suffer from different mental disorders. The main characteristics are sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or lack of concentration. According to times of India Feb 25,2017 almost 7.5% of Indians suffer from major or minor mental disorders. in spite of the fact that India and INDIANS boast for the rich tradition of yoga and spiritualism. Though many schools have been practiced traditionally but the use and the practical utility of such rich knowledge is untapped perhaps due to poor managerial skills or outreach programmes.
