What is ATMARAM/ आत्माराम क्या है?
Adesh adesh
The
Atmaram is a piece of bone which was a part of the rib cage closest to the
heart where the soul resides. Although, the soul is said to be in the entire
body but it is said that this is the center point. The second cervical
vertebra,Axis (C2) is referred to as atmaram. Anatomically axis isnt the
closest bone to heart, it rather helps in the head movement. This bone looks
like a man sitting in meditation position where the dens forms the man’s body, spinous
process indicate the sitting posture.

The atmaram (or sometimes aatmaram) bone
is a part of Hindu religious beliefs where after a cremation sometimes a piece
of bone is discovered that looks like a person sitting in a yoga position. It
is thought that while the soul occupies the whole body, it is centred in this
bone located near the heart. If found it is supposed to signify the greatness
and purity of the individual. In the body the Atmaram stays in the middle part
if the chest. That part is called Hridayam. Its English translate it as heart. That
particular place is only a vacuum described as a lotus flower in inverted
position. So long as the place is active one remains with life. The movement it
is out man is dead. There is no atmaram bone in
the taxonomy of (western medical) anatomy.

It reflects the spiritual development of the
individual. And the present science has no explaination about the yogic aspects
of #atmaram. Its beauty of Santana padhati we always work for the development
of individual not only in terms of physical body but at the level of astral
body or atmic body also.
